HANOVER, N.H. — Getting ready to wrap up its 2012 campaign, the Dartmouth volleyball team will play its final matches of the season Nov. 9-10, hitting the road to take on Brown and league-leading Yale. The Big Green will face the Bears Friday night at 7 p.m., followed by the Bulldogs Saturday at 5 p.m.
With an overall record of 2-20 (1-11 Ivy), the Big Green hopes to snap a 12-match losing streak with a bit of luck on their final weekend of play. Dartmouth will also say goodbye to senior captains Alissa Santa Maria and Kylie Kufeld, who will compete for the last time in a Green and White uniform.
Brown and Dartmouth are tied, 16-16 in their all-time series. Dartmouth swept the Bears last season by scores of 3-0 in both matches, and is 10-4 in the last 14 meetings. Earlier this season, however, Brown got the best of the Big Green at Leede Arena, sweeping the hosts, 3-0 in Hanover.
Yale has given the Green and White trouble in the past, holding a 27-10 advantage in the all-time series. Dartmouth did take last year's final match of the season against the Bulldogs, a dramatic 3-2 home victory that ended the Big Green's season on a high note. In their first matchup of this season, Yale defeated Dartmouth, 3-1.
Junior Elisa Scudder leads the Big Green with a .317 hitting percentage with 151 kills and a squad-best 63 blocks through 69 sets played. Freshman Paige Caridi has a balanced 184 kills and 229 digs, playing all 78 sets for Dartmouth in her rookie season. At the setter position, classmate Kayden Cook averages 6.94 assists per set, while sophomore Lucia Pohlman leads the team with 23 service aces on the year.
