HANOVER, N.H. - The Dartmouth volleyball team lost their fifth straight match Saturday night, falling to Brown in straight sets at Leede Arena (25-18, 26-24, 25-21). With the loss, the struggling Big Green drop to 2-13 on the season and 1-4 in the Ivy League. The Bears improve to 5-10 on the year and 1-4 in the conference.

Dartmouth had a chance to swing the momentum in the second set, which went point-for-point throughout and saw fifteen ties. Down 23-21, the Big Green scored two straight to knot the score, 23-23. Amanda Nickel responded with a kill for the Bears, but Dartmouth's Elisa Scudder and Alex Schoenberger came up with a huge block on the next play that kept their team alive, 24-24. But a Katrina Post kill, following by a block by Taylor Bantle and Alexandra Rieckhoff, sealed the set victory for Brown, 26-24.

The Bears jumped out to a 13-6 lead in the first set, in which they never trailed. With the help of Lucia Pohlman, the Big Green went on a 6-2 run midway through to pull within three points, 17-14. Pohlman was all over the court during the rally, contributing a pair of blocks, a pair of kills and a service ace to give her team life. But the Bears came roaring back to score six of the next eight points for a 23-16 lead, eventually taking the frame, 25-18.

Despite a mid-set Dartmouth run in the final frame that gave the Big Green the lead, Brown stayed calm and collected, coming back to complete the sweep. After falling behind 11-6, the Big Green took a timeout and went on a 7-1 run that put them ahead and forced the Bears to call a timeout of their own. The two squads would battle to a 21-21 tie later in the set before Brown buckled down and scored four more, the last three of which came on the serve of Kathryn Connor.

Rookie setter Kayden Cook led the Big Green, tallying 25 assists with 13 digs and adding two blocks on the evening. Classmates Paige Caridi and Allison Brady notched eight kills apiece and combined for seven blocks. Sophomore Holly Harper led the squad with 16 digs for the match.

For Brown, Post picked up a double-double with 12 kills and 12 digs. Maddie Lord had a match-best 13 kills, while Connor's 30 digs were also a match-high.

Dartmouth hits the road next weekend, taking on Columbia (Oct. 12, 7 p.m.) and Cornell (Oct. 13, 5 p.m.) in Ivy League action.
