Caridi Named Ivy League Volleyball Co-Player of the Week
PRINCETON, N.J. – Dartmouth sophomore outside hitter Paige Caridi capped an impressive weekend of action by earning Ivy League Co-Player of the Week honors as announced by the league office Tuesday afternoon.
Caridi become the first member of the Big Green volleyball team to receive recognition since Annie Villanueva in November of 2011.
In the first home weekend of the 2013 season, Caridi led Dartmouth to a 3-1 record at the Big Green Invitational. The Austin, Texas, native produced 57 kills, 59 digs and a trio of double-doubles during the four-game stretch.
Her strongest game of the week and her tenure with the Green and White came in the tournament finale against Grand Canyon. During the five-set thriller, Caridi had a career-high 24 kills with 21 digs and an attack percentage of .300 as Dartmouth dropped a heartbreaker.
Caridi’s other strong performances of the weekend came versus Manhattan and Providence. In the contest against the Jaspers she had 10 kills and 16 digs as Dartmouth cruised to a 3-1 victory. Against the Friars the six-footer added a match-high 16 kills and 17 digs.
Caridi shares the accolade with Breanna Wong of Cornell while Yale’s Brittani Steinberg earned Rookie of the Week honors.
The Big Green return to the court this weekend, Sept. 20-21, as they welcome Rhode Island, UConn, in-state rival New Hampshire and No. 9 Minnesota into Leede Arena for the Dartmouth Duels.
