AMHERST, Mass. – The Dartmouth women’s track & field team continued their weekend of competition with the UMass Invitational on Saturday.

Although, posting an impressive 121.50 team points, the Big Green finished third in the standings behind the hosts from UMass (164.50) and Vermont (127.50).

The highlight of the meet for the Green on this day was the 4x100-meter relay team breaking the school record, crossing in 47.28 to earn first place. The four freshmen of Toni Aguiar, Sara Kikut, Anna Kikut and Jennifer Meech made up the quartet that broke the previous record of 47.42 that has stood since the 1987 season.

Sarah Kikut and Anna Kikut also took the top two spots in the 100 meters with Sarah earning the win with a wind-legal 12.41. Her sister was second in the same heat and overall with a 12.53. Aguiar was fourth overall in 12.70.

The sisters also went 1-2 in the 200m race with Sarah once again edging out Anna for the top spot. Sarah ran a 25.00 to claim first, while Anna ran a 25.51 for second. Like the 100m, this race also saw Aguiar finish fourth, doing so in 25.90.

Also earning a first-place showing was junior Megan Krumpoch in the 400m. Krumpoch ran a 54.92, the second-fastest time in program history.

Junior Corinne Kominkiewski was the top performer in the discus with a 135-4.0/41.26m. Freshman Kaitlin Whitehorn posted a second-place showing in the high jump as she cleared 5-7.25/1.71m.

In the 1500m, senior Arianna Vailas was also second in 4:34.70. Sophomore Erica Hendershot took third overall and six points for her team in the 100-meter hurdles as she ran a 15:33, while the 800m saw fellow sophomore Meggie Donovan claim fifth in 2:14.65.

The Big Green will return to the track next weekend at the 2013 Ivy League Heptagonal Championship at Princeton.
