CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Dartmouth women's track & field team took things outdoors for its spring debut Friday at the Irwin Bell Track as part of UNC-Charlotte's 49er Classic.
Krumpoch was second overall in 56.35, winning her heat. Meech was the final qualifier, taking eighth overall and second in her section with a 57.60.
In the 200 meters, it was Meech that led the Green and White with a 25.17 to claim 19th overall. Krumpoch was not far back, running a 25.38 to earn a 21st-place showing. Both would win their heat, while freshman Mollie Gribbin was 24th overall in 25.40.
For Krumpoch, the times in both events were personal records.
Gribbin was also fourth in the finals of the long jump during the meet's opening day of competition. The measured jump of 18-5.0/5.61m came on her fifth attempt of the afternoon.
In the 100-meter hurdles prelims, a trio of runners competed, led by junior Janae Dunchack with a wind-legal 15.19, good for 15th. Just behind Dunchack were sophomores Erica Hendershot (16th, 15:19) and Lauren Ready (18th, 15:44).
Ready and Dunchack also competed in the 400m-hurdles, but will not move on to the finals as they finished 15th (1:08.10) and 20th (1:08.93), respectively.
Cathy Liebowitz led the throwers with a 50.01m toss in the hammer throw.
Saturday will be the conclusion of the 49er Classic with the finals of each event set to get underway in the late morning. This is a non-scoring meet.
