SEATTLE - Junior Abbey D'Agostino headed out west Saturday night to compete in one of the more challenging meets of the 2012-13 indoor track & field season, the University of Washington Invitational.

Inside UW's indoor facility, The Dempsey, D'Agostino ran a personal-best 8:55.41 in the women's invitational section of the 3000m, reserved for the most elite runners.

Her time was the third fastest overall, but had her as the top collegiate runner, more than three seconds better than Oregon's Jordan Hassay, another one of the nation's top collegiate distance runners.

D'Agostino was the lone Ivy League student-athlete at the meet.
