PRINCETON, N.J. - The second day of competition at the 2012 ECAC Championships at Princeton's Weaver Stadium was highlighted by the strong performance of freshman Cathy Liebowitz (Plainfield, N.H.) for the Dartmouth women's outdoor track & field team.
The freshman recorded a personal best in the hammer throw as her fourth toss of the afternoon was measured at 182-10.0/55.73m. That distance was good for sixth place and three points and is the second-best throw in program history, trailing just Emily Daly's '09 record throw of 194-8/59.34m set in April 2009.
Liebowitz's throw on Saturday will move her up in the national performance lists and should have her in the hunt for a spot at the NCAA East Regionals in Jacksonville in two weeks.
Sophomore Megan Krumpoch (Shrewsbury, Mass.) also ran in the preliminaries of the 400-meter hurdles on Saturday, placing 19th with a 1:02.75, failing to advance onto Sunday's final heat.
The ECAC Championships, held in conjunction with the IC4As, will conclude Sunday.
