NEW ORLEANS – Dartmouth junior Abbey D'Agostino has been named one of the 10 semifinalists for The Bowerman Award, presented annually to the most outstanding male and female collegiate track & field athletes in the nation.

D’Agostino is the first Ivy League student-athlete, male or female, to earn a spot in the top-10.

During 2012-13, D’Agostino was a three-time NCAA National Champion, winning the 3000m and 5000m during the indoor season and repeating in the outdoor 5000m earlier this month in Eugene, Ore.

The first Ivy League competitor ever to win three national titles in a career, the junior from Topsfield, Mass., now has four to her credit during the last two years. Her win in the 5000m at this year’s outdoor championship meet gave her the event crown in each of the last two years, becoming the fifth woman to win in consecutive years and the first since Stanford’s Lauren Fleshman in 2001-03.

A four-time Ivy League Heps champion this year between indoor and outdoor season, D’Agostino has been the top collegiate runner in 17 of her last 18 individual races dating back to last season. In the fall, she won all but one cross country race she competed in, finishing as the national runner-up at the NCAA Championship race in Louisville.

D’Agostino will continue her incredible stretch of success over the course of the last year when she takes to the track this weekend in Des Moines, Iowa, at the 2013 Outdoor USA Track & Field Championships. Running in the 5000m, D’Agostino is one of just three collegians competing in the vent, set to get underway Sunday at 4:22 p.m. ET.
