JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Sophomore Abbey D'Agostino (Topsfield, Mass.) punched her ticket to Des Moines, Iowa, and the NCAA Championship Meet in two weeks (June 6-9) with an automatic-qualifying performance in the 5,000 meters Saturday night at the East Regional.

D'Agostino ran a 16:15.35 to win her heat by more than seven seconds at the University of North Florida's Hodges Stadium, automatically moving the Dartmouth women's track & field sophomore on to run for an individual national title in Iowa.

The time was good enough for fifth place overall after both heats of 24 competitors were completed.

Freshman Cathy Liebowitz (Plainfield, N.H.) was the only other member of the women's team to compete on the final day in Jacksonville, placing 39th in the hammer throw.

Liebowitz's third throw of the afternoon was measured at 173-0.0/52.75m.

D'Agostino will be joined in Des Moines by senior Alexi Pappas (Alameda, Calif.), who qualified for the championships in the 3,000-meter steeplechase on Friday night.
