NEW HAVEN, Conn. – On day two of the Bulldog Invitational, the Dartmouth women’s tennis team played well against Harvard, winning two doubles matches and eight of nine singles matches against the Crimson.
To start the day, sophomore Allison McCann and freshman Abigail Chiu had a very close 7-6(4) victory over Jenna Friedel and Jenna Moustafa, while freshman Maddie Hwang and sophomore Catherine Cable took down Isabel Jasper and Neha Gupta by a score of 6-3. Senior Julia Schroeder and sophomore Racquel Lyn fought hard against Annika Ringblom and Anna Li, but narrowly fell, 7-6(6).
Although the Big Green won all but one of their singles matches against the Crimson, a lot of them were extremely close. Four of them went to three sets, and Dartmouth walked away with a win in all of them. Senior Kristina Mathis took down Irene Lu, 6-3, 1-6, 6-0, while Lyn rebounded from a 6-4 loss in the second set to take the third, 7-6(6) against Lexi Milunovich. After dropping her first set to Li, 7-5, Hwang came back to win the remaining two by the same score.
The Green will conclude the Bulldog Invite on Sunday by taking on Columbia at 9 a.m.
