HANOVER, N.H. – After successful fall and spring campaigns, freshman Katherine Yau and sophomore Akiko Okuda ended the year ranked No. 9 in the region as a doubles tandem by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).
The recognition didn’t end there for Yau as she was also ranked No. 10 in the Northeast as a singles player as well.
Led by Yau and Okuda, the Dartmouth women’s team ranked No. 9 in the region, just ahead of Ivy League rival Brown.
Yau had an impressive first year on campus, notching 18 singles wins and 12 doubles triumphs. The Manhasset, N.Y., native also earned second team All-Ivy honors in singles play.
As a duo, Yau and Okuda played well together picking up a team best 12 wins. Six of their wins came during the dual match season and six came in tournament play. Their lone conference win came against No. 35 Yale as they topped Madeline Hamilton and Annie Sullivan, 8-5, at the No.1 spot.
