Women's Tennis Trio Named to ITA All-Academic Team

HANOVER, N.H.  –  Three members of the Dartmouth women’s tennis team were named to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team, as announced by the organization.

This is the 13th straight year a member of the Big Green squad has been recognized for her achievements in the classroom — the trio includes Taylor Ng, Sarah Bessen, and Katherine Yau.

The award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All eligible student-athletes whose names appear on the NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA/CA JUCO eligibility form and have competed in one or more varsity match and must average into the GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2013 and spring 2014).

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) Be a varsity letterwinner, 2.) Have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) Have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman thorough senior year).

The team finished the season with an 8-9 overall record and was ranked No. 7 in the final ITA Northeast Region rankings. Yau and Ng were named to the All-Ivy Team and senior Melissa Matsuoka was claimed the ITA Northeast Most Improved Senior.
