Women's Tennis Drops Ivy Match at #69 Princeton, 5-2

PRINCETON, NJ—Dartmouth women's tennis got wins from captain Melissa Matsuoka and Taylor Ng, but dropped a 5-2 decision to #69 Princeton on Sunday.

The Big Green moves to 6-8 (2-2 Ivy League), while Princeton improves to 16-5 (5-0 Ivy League).

The Tigers jumped out to a 1-0 lead by winning No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Katherine Yau and Ng were winning 6-4 at No. 1 doubles, but the match was halted when the doubles point was decided.

In singles, Princeton's top player Lindsay Graff prevailed over Yau to put the second point on the board for Princeton and then Jacqueline Crawford fell to Alanna Wolff at third singles. No. 5 Akiko Okuda and No. 6 Suzy Tan played closely contested matches, but were ultimately stopped 7-5, 7-5 and 7-5, 6-4, respectively.

The Big Green then got victories at No.2 from Ng, who defeated 2012 Northeast Regional Champion Amanda Muliawan in a third set super breaker, and Matsuoka who won 5-7, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4 singles.

Dartmouth returns to action against Yale at home on Friday at 2 p.m.
