NEW YORK – In the first match of the ECAC Women’s Indoor Tennis Tournament, the No. 6 seeded Dartmouth women’s tennis team fell to No. 3 Princeton, 4-2, at the Dick Savitt Tennis Center on the campus of Columbia.

The Big Green got off to a quick start by capturing the doubles point. Julienne Keong Si Ying and Suzy Tan cruised to a 6-1 win at No. 3, while Akiko Okuda and Melissa Matsuoka earned a 6-4 victory at No. 2. The No. 1 duo of Katherine Yau and Taylor Ng were trailing in their match, 5-4, when play was halted.

 In singles action, the Tigers took four matches to advance in the bracket. Tan was the lone Dartmouth player to win her match, topping Katie Goepel in straight sets at No. 5.

Ng was leading 3-1 in the second set after falling in the first set, 6-4, when Princeton secured the win.

The Big Green continue the weekend of action tomorrow, Feb. 8, with a match at 8 a.m. facing the loser of the Cornell-Brown match later this afternoon.
