Junior (2014-15): Continued to rehab her knee injury … played in five matches at the No. 6 position as a junior, picking up a three-set victory over Miami of Ohio.
Sophomore (2013-14): ITA All-Academic Team … secured six singles victories throughout her sophomore season … picked up three consecutive wins against Boston University, UMass and San Jose State … had two Ivy League wins against Cornell and Penn … injured her knee and missed the final five matches of the season.
Freshman (2012-13): During her first year at Dartmouth, Bessen racked up 12 singles wins and 12 doubles triumphs ... competed primarily at No. 2 doubles and No. 5 singles ... picked up her first collegiate dual match singles win against Wisconsin on Feb.1 in straight sets at No. 6 ... won her Ivy League singles debut versus No. 72 Cornell at No. 6 in straight sets ... won five straight singles matches in the middle of the season ... registered first career conference doubles match against No. 68 Princeton at No. 2.
Before Dartmouth: Bessen was ranked No. 1 in the USTA/Intermountain section, No. 1 in Nevada, and was named the 2012 Nevada Player of the Year ... she also won two national doubles titles, and the Intermountain Sportsmanship Award and Scholar-Athlete Award in 2010 ... played three years of high school tennis and led Bishop Gorman to the state title each of those three years ... won the state high school doubles title her freshman year and was named rookie of the year ... named most valuable player twice ... her twin brother Michael is also a member of Dartmouth's Class of 2016 ... Bessen trains at the Desert Palm Tennis Club in Las Vegas with Zdenek Cernoch.
