2009 (Junior): Team co-captain along with catcher Jack Monahan … generally toed the slab against the opponent’s top pitcher as the Big Green’s series-opening starter … pitched at least six innings in nine of 11 starts, but his two-inning stint versus Bryant was scheduled to last only that long … gutted out first win of the season after yielding eight runs (only four earned) all in one inning at Penn … tossed a gem against Princeton, allowing just one run on four hits and two walks while striking out a season-high seven batters … came back the next week to defeat the Bears, 5-2, hurling 6.1 innings while surrendering just two runs despite an uncharacteristic five walks … only loss in Ivy play came to the league’s Pitcher of the Year, Yale’s Brandon Josselyn, in a 4-1 setback in New Haven … got a complete-game victory over Harvard, allowing just two runs in seven innings with four whiffs to clinch at least a share of the Rolfe Division crown … won the first game of the Ivy Championship series while tossing 7.2 innings … held powerful Army bats in check over six innings on Sunday, allowing just four hits and no runs with a pair of whiffs, but ended up with no decision … pitched valiantly in the first game of the NCAA Regional against the host, seventh-ranked North Carolina, hurling seven innings while yielding four runs on 11 hits and a pair of walks with five strikeouts … opponents did not score a run off him after the sixth inning (spanning seven total innings pitched).
