HANOVER, N.H. — Following the first weekend of competition for the Dartmouth baseball team, freshman outfielder Matt Robinson was pegged as the Ivy League’s Rookie of the Week. He is the first Big Green outfielder to earn the award since Nick Santomauro ’10 earned it back on April 10, 2007.
Robinson made his collegiate debut on Saturday, starting in left field at 13th-ranked Louisiana State. The native of Chesterfield, Mo., rapped out a pair of hits, walked once and scored two of Dartmouth’s three runs in a 16-3 loss to the Tigers. The next day, he got the start in center field, driving home the first Big Green run with a single in the fifth inning, then leading off the seventh with a single and coming around to score the go-ahead run in an eventual 5-4 defeat.
The left-hander hitting Robinson finished the weekend going 4-for-6 with a walk, three runs scored and an RBI. His on-base percentage was .714 and he caught all four fly balls that came his way.
Dartmouth returns to the diamond on Thursday, March 15 at Sacramento State to start a nine-game trip in California.
