HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth women’s cross country team honored the program’s former student-athlete and coach in the best way it knew how Saturday morning at the Hanover Country Club.

The Big Green posted a perfect score of 15 points in the season-opening home meet renamed the Maribel Sanchez Souther Invitational starting this year.

In all, the top-19 runners in the final results were members of the home team.

Leading the way was junior Olivia Lantz, winning the individual title in 21:33.15 with freshman Ella Ketchum close behind in second with a 21:38.56 to her credit.

Glennis Murphy made her collegiate debut along with four other freshmen —including Ketchum — and finished third in 22:00.01. Senior Bridget O’Neill was fourth overall in 22:09.12, while last year’s meet winner Bridget Flynn capped the perfect score with a fifth-place showing in 22:11.95.

The win was the fourth-straight team title at the home meet for the Green and White as UMass Lowell was second with 50 points.

Dartmouth returns to action on Friday, Sept. 22 at Boston College.
