HANOVER, N.H. - The Dartmouth women's cross country team earned the No. 7 position in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Preseason Northeast Regional Rankings.

The No. 7 spot was announced by the organization Monday morning as part of its annual preseason team rankings that features nine regions from across the country.

The Big Green will open the year as one of six Ivy League schools featured in the area's top 15.

Coming off a fifth-place finish at last season's Heps and returning arguably the top female cross country runner in the country and defending individual Heps champion in junior Abbey D'Agostino (Topsfield, Mass.), Dartmouth is poised to continue its climb to the top of the Ivy track and cross country rankings each season.

The Big Green should be aided each week by the depth provided by juniors Hannah Rowe (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) and Bridget End (Summit, N.J.) as well as senior Katie Sullivan (Carmel, N.Y.), all of whom scored for the team at last season's championship meet and return again for another go in 2012.

Dartmouth will begin its campaign and pursuit of a Heps title on Sept. 8 as it takes to the course at the Hanover Country Club as part of the annual Dartmouth Invitational.
