HANOVER, N.H. - With the season already beginning to wind down, the Dartmouth women's cross country team will send a strong contingent of runners to Boston for Sunday's Mayor's Cup at Franklin Park.

The Women's 5K Championship is set for an 11:30 a.m. start time.

Head coach Mark Coogan will use this opportunity to give every member of the freshman class as well as several sophomores, juniors and seniors the chance to earn the final spot on the Big Green's roster for the Heps Championships next weekend at West Windsor Fields in Princeton, N.J.

The top Dartmouth finisher Sunday at Franklin Park will earn that final spot at the annual Ivy League championship meet.

"The Mayor's Cup is a good opportunity for our younger runners to gain some valuable racing experience and for some of our track specialists a chance to race during the fall," Coogan said. "Running a cross country race can help them when it comes to the indoor track season."

Sunday will be the 22nd annual occurrence of the Mayor's Cup, which is organized by the Boston Athletic Association.
