HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth women’s cross country team is back in action this weekend at the annual New England Championship, held this year at Franklin Park in Boston on Saturday.

The runners that made up the Big Green’s second-place finish last week at the Paul Short Invitational will take a break from competition and give the next wave of Dartmouth harriers a chance.

The team will look to build on the success of last season’s third-place finish at the same event, but was held at Stanley Park. This year’s 5K race is set to begin at 12:30 p.m. and is the third scheduled race of the day.

Head coach Mark Coogan should expect strong showings from the likes of Elizabeth Markowitz, Claudia Pham, Ashley Ulrich, Arianna Vailas, Reid Watson, Jennie Cunningham and Helen Schlachtenhaufen.

Boston College (45) and Vermont (59) were the only two teams last year that posted better point totals than the 139 the Big Green did as all five individuals in the scoring that day claimed spots in the top-20.

The men’s team will run the 8K course immediately after the conclusion of the women’s race. Start time is set for 1:15 p.m.
