WESTFIELD, Mass. - The Dartmouth women claimed third place at the 2012 New England Cross Country Championship held at Stanley Park's 5K course Sunday afternoon.

The Big Green rested some of their top runners for the meet, but that did little to slow down those representing the Green and White on this day. All five of Dartmouth's runners that finished in the scoring were in the top 40 in a race that fielded more than 250 individuals competing.

Overall, the team's third-place finish was the result of 139 points. Yale was the closest Ivy League opponent to the Big Green in the standings, placing sixth with 218 points.

Sophomore Samantha Harmon was the team's top finisher, crossing the line 16th overall in 17:48.09.

Fellow sophomore Alison Lanois (22nd, 17:53.60) and junior Katelyn Walker (28th, 18:04.62) were the next two Dartmouth runners to cross the finish line. They were followed soon thereafter by sophomores Ashley Ulrich (18:11.09) and Claudia Pham (18:11.79) in 36th and 37th places, respectively.

Boston College won the meet with 45 points with Vermont's 59 points earning the Catamounts a second-place finish.
