HANOVER, N.H. – Two second-half goals surrendered by the Big Green allowed Columbia to exit with a 2-0 victory over the Dartmouth men’s soccer team on Saturday evening at Burnham Field.

Dartmouth freshman keeper James Hickok kept the game scoreless in the first half after making a tremendous save in the 21st minute of play, as he dove to his left to keep the ball out of the net after Columbia midfielder Antonio Matarazzo sent a blast.

Columbia (7-4-2, 1-1-2 Ivy) got on the board in the 65th minute off a powerful header by Will Stamatis. Lions forward David Najem was credited with the assist after finding Stamatis streaking towards goal and sending the chip pass from the end line.

Trailing 1-0 late in the contest, a defensive turnover at midfield by the Green and White allowing Najem to dribble into the defensive zone and send a one-timer pass to Andrew Tinari for the two-goal lead.

Although the Big Green struggled offensively, they finished with an 8-7 edge in shots. Hickok ended the contest with three saves, as did his counterpart Kyle Jackson.

The Big Green (5-4-4, 0-4 Ivy) will host New Hampshire on Tuesday, October 29 and then head to Harvard for an Ivy League match on Saturday, Nov. 2.
