Heffron's Second-Half Tally Snaps Winless Skid at Four
HAMILTON, N.Y. – Junior Colin Heffron scored the lone goal snapping a four-game winless streak for the Dartmouth men’s soccer team in a 1-0 win over Colgate on Tuesday evening.
Heffron scored the game's only tally in the 73rd minute, with an assist from junior Stefan Defregger. The Upper Brookville, New York, native scored with a low shot to the opposite post before bouncing over the line.
Dartmouth finished with a 12-8 edge in shots; forcing Ricky Brown to make four saves for the Raiders. Freshman James Hickok made three saves for his third clean sheet of the season. Both teams finished with three corner kicks each.
Colgate used up all its chances in the first half, as Hickok made all three stops in the opening 45 minutes. The freshman keeper made his first stop in the 8th minute on a shot from Ethan Kutler. The Raiders had another opportunity at Hickok in the 32nd minute with the last shot coming six minutes after.
The Green and White pressured the Raiders once play resumed to begin the half. Dartmouth registered three shots before scoring with 18 minutes remaining in regulation. Kutler tried to tie the game with two minutes remaining, but his attempt went high.
Dartmouth will return to Hanover for an Ivy League meeting with Columbia on Saturday night, followed by a Granite State showdown with New Hampshire on Tuesday evening, October 29.
