KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Dartmouth men's soccer captains Teo Larsson-Sax (Kalmar, Sweden) and Kevin Dzierzawski (Oakland Township, Mich.) were named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Scholar All-East Region squad it was recently announced. Both players earned spots on the second team.
Larsson-Sax, who also earned Academic All-Ivy honors, and Dzierzawski are earning the honor for the first time in their careers and make it the fifth consecutive season the Big Green have earned NSCAA Academic honors. Dartmouth also earned the NSCAA Team Academic Award for their efforts in the classroom.
Dzierzawski, a Sociology major, again posted a strong season in the midfield for the Big Green. Starting each of Dartmouth's 16 games, he picked up four points on four assists while taking five shots on goal. For the second consecutive season, he led the squad in assists and was tied for sixth among his Ivy League counterparts.
Larsson-Sax, a Philosophy major, again made it difficult for opponents to score by helping lead the Dartmouth backline to two shutouts and only allowing opponents 1.36 goals per game. Larsson-Sax started each game during his senior campaign and took two shots on the year.
The Big Green concluded the 2012 season with a 9-7-0, 5-2-0 Ivy League record good for second place in the league standings. Dartmouth also completed its second consecutive undefeated Ivy League home slate, boasting a 4-0 record at Burnham Field.
Players from Brown, Cornell and Yale join Larsson-Sax and Dzierzawski as Ivy League players on the All-Scholar team.
