PRINCETON, N.J.- Fresh off his five-point outing in Dartmouth's 3-1 win over Harvard (Oct. 27) men's soccer sophomore forward Alex Adelabu (Houston, Texas) was named Ivy League Player of the Week. Adelabu picks up his second accolade this season also earning the award on Sept. 17. He joins teammate Noah Cohen (Johannesburg, South Africa) as Dartmouth players to win the award this season.
Adelabu earns the award after posting two goals and an assist in Dartmouth's Homecoming win over Harvard. The Texas native scored the Big Green's first goal at the 22:35 mark to tie that game at 1-1 and added the game-winner in the 76th minute capitalizing on a Harvard defensive miscue. He wasn't done and picked up his fifth point of the afternoon with an assist on Alberto Gorini's (Incisa Valderno, Italy) goal in the 83rd minute.
The Harvard game marked Adelabu's second multiple goal game of the season. He also scored two goals in Dartmouth's 3-2 loss at then-No. 7 New Mexico on Sept. 14.
The Big Green forward has picked up points in each of Dartmouth's last three contests and is on a two-game scoring steak. He leads the squad with 21 points on nine goals and three assists and is the lone Big Green player with double figure points. He's tallied three game-winning goals and has three assists on the season.
Dartmouth, winners of its last three and five of its last six, will put its win streak on the line when it travels to Cornell to take on the Big Red in a crucial Ivy League matchup on Saturday (Nov. 3). Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
