No. 8 Big Green Pick Up First Win of the Season

LANCASTER, Pa. – The No. 8 Dartmouth women’s squash team picked up its first win of the season on Thursday night, topping No. 13 Franklin & Marshall, 8-1, at the Mayser Center.

The Big Green improve to 1-1 while the Diplomats dropped their second straight to fall to 2-2. The Green and White have now won seventh straight against Franklin & Marshall.

Six of the eight members of the squad to earn victories did so in three games. The players at spots 4-9 sealed the vicory for Dartmouth as Katherine Nimmo, Helena Darling, Lydie McKenzie, Oona Morris, Sarah Caughey and Tori Dewey won without dropping a game.

Nina Scott scored a come-from-behind five-set win at No. 2, outlasting Emily Caldwell 7-11, 11-0, 14-16, 11-8, 11-8. Scott was one of two players to hold an opponent scoreless in a game as Dewey shutout Dana Rapisarda in the second game of their match.

Melina Turk also notched a come-from-behind triumph at No. 3. After losing the first game, Turk rallied to take the next three for Dartmouth.

The Big Green return to action in 2014, hosting Penn and Princeton in Ivy League play Jan. 11-12 at the Berry Squash Courts. The match with the Quakers is set for the 11th at 1 p.m. and the Tigers come to Hanover the 12th at noon.
