LANCASTER, PA. —  The eighth-ranked Dartmouth women's squash team opened the season on Sunday at 17th-ranked Franklin & Marshall and left with a 9-0 victory. The Diplomats fell to 0-2 on the year.

The Big Green looked dominant in the season-opening win with only one match needing more than three games. At No. 1 singles, junior Corey Schafer (Natick, Mass.) took four games to defeat Roxana Mead, 11-5, 10-12, 11-8, 11-6.

Freshman Helena Darling (New York, N.Y.) and sophomore Katherine Nimmo (Wellesley, Mass.) had the most dominate wins. Darling, competing at No. 7 singles, and Nimmo, competing at No. 8 singles, each won, 11-3, 11-4, 11-2.

At No. 2, junior Becky Lau (Toronto, Ontario) had a close first game, 14-12, but won the next two, 11-6, 11-5. In the third spot, junior Sarah Loucks (Boston, Mass.) won with identical game scores, 11-4, 11-4, 11-4.

In the No. 4 spot, freshman Oona Morris (New York, N.Y.) defeated Katherine Perry, 11-2, 11-5, 11-6, in the No. 5 spot, sophomore Melina Turk (Winnipeg, Manatoba) earned a 11-5, 11-1, 11-4 victory, freshman Marian Lurio (Merion, Pa.) won 11-3, 11-5, 11-4 at No. 6 and freshman Sarah Caughey won at ninth singles, 11-5, 11-0, 11-4.

Dartmouth opens its home season and its Ivy opener on Wednesday against Harvard at 5 p.m.
