CAMBRIDGE, MASS. — The eighth-ranked Dartmouth women's squash team lost its opening match at the Howe Cup (A Division) to top-ranked Harvard, 9-0. The loss dropped the Big Green to 6-7, while Harvard improved to 15-0.
The Crimson, which beat Dartmouth, 8-1, earlier this season, earned the win in the first couple of matches. Harvard won the first six contests to clinch the victory in just over an hour and finished the sweep in the last three matches. All nine matches went by 3-0 tallies.
Sarah Mumanachit defeated sophomore Katherine Nimmo (Wellesley, Mass.), the only Big Green player to win a match the last time the two teams met, at No. 7, 11-5, 11-6, 11-3.
Dartmouth looks to rebound when it plays fourth-seeded Penn in the consolation bracket.
