HANOVER, N.H. - Three members of the Dartmouth women's lacrosse team have been recognized as members of the 2012 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Academic Honor Roll.
Seniors-to-be Courtney Bennett (Darien, Conn.), Kyra Hansson (Wilton, Conn.) and Hana Bowers (Old Greenwich, Conn.) were tabbed as selections for their efforts in the classroom while helping lead the Big Green back to the NCAA Tournament this past spring.
Bennett, a Psychology major and Geography minor, started in all 17 games as a junior in 2012 and was sixth on the team in scoring with 12 points (9g/3a). Her 15 draw controls also ranked third on the team. Her cumulative grade-point average is an impressive 3.85.
Bowers, who will serve with Bennett as one of the team's three captains in 2013, is an Asian and Middle Eastern Studies major. As a junior in 2012, Bowers was third on the team in scoring with 29 points (22g/7a) and was an integral part of the Big Green's run to an Ivy League Tournament Championship, earning all-tournament honors in the process. Her cumulative GPA at Dartmouth is 3.39.
Hansson was a key reserve for Dartmouth last season at the defensive end of the field. Hansson made her first collegiate start when the Big Green played host to Yale in the Ivy League and home opener on March 3 at Scully-Fahey Field. A Psychology major with a 3.49 GPA, Hansson is also entering her senior season with the Big Green in 2013.
In all, 173 student-athletes from 56 different Division I programs were included on the 2012 IWLCA Academic Honor Roll.
