HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth sailing team continued to coast through its spring schedule competing in three regattas throughout New England last week. The Big Green reeled in top five finishes in each race. Most Notably, Dartmouth won the O’Toole Trophy race.

At the O’Toole Trophy race, hosted by Salve Regina, the Big Green finished in first place in the 18-boat fleet. Dartmouth compiled a team total of 80 points to finish nine points ahead of second place Tufts. The win marked the second straight week that Dartmouth notched a victory after winning the Central Series Race hosted by Boston College on April 13.

Dartmouth earned a third place finish at the Admiral’s Cup hosted by Kings Point. The A skipper, Matt Wefer, and his crew Avery Plough raced past their competition, winning their division by 25 points.  The duo of Wefer and Plough averaged a 3.9, and finished in the top 5 in 12 of the 15 races. The tandem won four of the 15 races as well. Making the accomplishment even more noteworthy was the fact that Wefer and Plough did this in windy conditions without an "alternate" crew. Many of the teams put in a heavier or stronger sailor when the breeze picked up, but Wefer and Plough stayed together for the whole event, besting many teams in the big breeze.

In the third and final race of the weekend the Big Green scored a fifth place finish at the Thompson Trophy. The event was hosted by Connecticut College and boasted a field of 17 teams. The Green and White registered a team total of 142 (74 A- division, 68 B-division) to finish nine point behind the host Camels, who came in third.

Dartmouth returns to the water next weekend, April 27-28, competing in four regattas.
