HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth sailing team continued its spring season over the weekend competing in four regattas throughout New England. Most notably, the Big Green reeled in a second place finish at the BU Trophy hosted by Boston University. Altogether, Dartmouth tallied two-top four results.
At the BU Trophy, the Big Green tallied a total of 91 points to finish behind winner Salve Regina and just ahead of Brown. In the A division, the team registered 54 points and in the B division they had an event low 37.
In Connecticut at the Mystic Lake Team Race Invitational hosted by Tufts, the Green and White sailors finished fourth in the eight-team field. In the event, Dartmouth won 13 of its 21 races to close the weekend two wins behind the third place Tufts Jumbos.
The team from the Upper Valley posted an eighth place finish at the Southern New England Team Race hosted by Connecticut College. The Big Green wound up in a tie with Tufts, as both schools went 4-7 in the 11 races. Head-to-head, the Jumbos defeated Dartmouth (3-5-6).
In the other race during the final weekend of March, Dartmouth placed 12th at the Dellenbaugh Women’s Trophy hosted by Brown. The Big Green had a team score of 198 over the A and B divisions to finish in a tie with Rhode Island. Dartmouth won the head-to-head tiebreaker to jump up to its final positioning.
Dartmouth is back on the water this weekend, racing in four regattas April 6-7.
