AUSTIN, Texas — The Dartmouth women's sailing team placed 12th of 18 teams at the Sperry Top-Sider/ICSA Women's National Championship on Saturday. After the regatta, freshman Deirdre Lambert (Cumberland, Maine) was named an Honorable Mention All-American Skipper.

The competition was hosted by Texas and the Austin Yacht Club on Lake Travis. In the three-day event, the Big Green totaled 249 points. The team scored 135 points in the A-division and had 114 in the B-Division. Sophomore Kelsey Wheeler (Osterville, Mass.) and junior Molly Wilson (Rye, N.Y.) competed in the A-division, and Lambert and sophomore Carissa Crawford (San Diego, Calif.) sailed in the B-division. Dartmouth was edged for the 11th spot by Eckerd who finished with 248 points. The Big Green finished 14 points from placing in the top nine.

Boston College took the national title with 142 points, Yale finished second with 146 points and Rhode Island placed third at 150 points. After the championship was complete, the ICSA announced the Quantum Women's College Sailor of the Year and the Women's All-American Team. Georgetown's Sydney Bolger was named the Sailor of the Year, and 13 sailors were named All-Americans.

The guidelines for All-America selection evaluate a competitor based on their competitive record in conference and North American Championships. Beyond that, the committee analyzes how this record compares to fellow competitors, the quality of the competition the record was achieved in, the span of the record over the fall and spring seasons, results achieved with different crews and how the record compares to previous All-American winners in previous years.
