Sailing Notches Trio of Top Seven Finishes

HANOVER, N.H  – The Dartmouth sailing team competed in four Regattas over the weekend with three seventh places finishes and one tenth place result.

At the Admiral Moore Team Race, the Big Green finished tied for eighth with a record of 5-13. Led by skippers Ian Storck, Charles Lalumiere and Pat Floyd helped navigate the crew of Madeline Cooney, Mia Steck, Victor Hollenberg, Sophie Kerr and Patrick Collins.  In the first round, Dartmouth defeated Coast Guard, 1-4-5, Georgetown, 2-3-4, and South Florida, 1-2-5.

At the 54th annual Jan T. Friis Trophy, icy conditions moved the event from Tufts to Harvard and saw the Big Green finish tied for seventh with Yale with a record of 4-8. Chris Price, Colin Murphy and Scott Houck were the skippers to Charlotte Snow, Hope Wilson and Julia McKown on crew. The teams won two races in the first round over Harvard, 1-2-3, and Vermont, 1-2-6. In the second round, the team finished 2-1 with wins over Michigan, 1-3-4, and Yale, 1-3-6.

The Big Green faced spring-like conditions at the Aaron Szambecki Team Race in Maryland and finished seventh with a 7-14 record.  The event skippers were Evan Read, Deirdre Lambert and Matt Wefer. Crew members consisted of Abigail Rohman, Hunter Johnstone, Nate Greason and Avery Plough.

At the Southern Series 1 at Salve Regina, the Big Green placed 10th with 87 points in the A Division (Thomas Gallagher and John Lewis) and 67 points in the B Division (Emily Petno and Caroline Gray) for 154 points.
