Sailing Team Has Another Impressive Weekend on the Water

HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth sailing team had a quintet of top-five finishes over the weekend, highlighted by third-place results at both the KP Dinghy Open and the Stu Nelson. The Big Green had their most impressive weekend of the fall, adding a pair of fourth-place finishes as well as earning fifth and seventh-place at the Central Series 6 hosted by Boston College.

At the 20-boat fleet at the KDP Dinghy Open hosted by Kings Point, the Green and White tallied 180 points over 32 total races split into A and B-Division. Dartmouth finished just three points behind second-place Fordham and seven behind eventual winner SUNY Maritime. The B-Division sailors of Hunter Johnstone and Caroline Gray won their heat by seven points with a total of 69 over 16 races. The duo won five races and finished in the top-five in eight others.

The Stu Nelson Regatta was hosted by Connecticut College and boasted a field of 18 teams as Dartmouth tallied 151 points to finish third. With a 94-point showing to leave the Big Green in 10th after the A-Division, B-Division sailors Sarah Williams and Sarah Peck earned 57 points over 10 races to catapult the squad into the top-three. Peck and Williams won a pair of races and had a trio of third-place results.

Dartmouth finished fourth out of 18 teams at both the Sherman Hoyt Trophy hosted by Brown and the 75th Annual Oberg Trophy hosted by Northeastern.

The Big Green concluded the weekend with a fifth and seventh place finish at the Central Series 6. The event, hosted by Boston College featured a field of 16 teams.

The Green and White finished in the top half of each of the five regattas as they gain momentum heading into the final weekend of the fall.

Dartmouth returns to the water next weekend, Nov. 2-3, competing in a quartet of regattas throughout the northeast.
