HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth sailing team competed in a quartet of regattas this past weekend, reeling in a trio of top-five finishes. The highlight of the Big Green’s two days on the water was a second-place result at the Nicholas Barnett Trophy.
The Nicholas Barnett Trophy was hosted by Bowdoin and featured a 12-boat fleet. The B-Division racers of Charles Lalumiere and Mia Steck tallied 33 points over 11 races to finsh second in their heat. The duo won four races and had six other top-five finishes. In the A-Division, Robert Floyd and Sophie Kerr won three of their 11 races to finish fifth in the heat.
At the Hobart and William Smith Fall Intersectional, Dartmouth finished third in the 12-team field. The B-Division tandem of Ian Stork and Madeline Cooney tied for second in their heat with 33 points over nine races. They won race two and had six other top-four finishes. In A-Division, Evan Read and Abigail Rohman tied for fourth with 36 points. Read and Rohman finished in the top six in all nine races during their heat.
The Big Green came in fifth our of 17 at the Moody Intersectional hosted by Rhode Island. As a team, Dartmouth registered 149 points to finish just nine points back of fourth-place Roger Williams. Deirdre Lambert and Hope Wilson won the B-Division with a total of 47 points over 10 races. In the A-Division, Scott Houck and Julia McKown finished 11th with 102 points.
At the fourth and final regatta, the Green and White came in ninth out of 16 teams at the Southern Series 4 hosted by Roger Williams. The team totaled 161 points to finish 15 points off the pace set by eighth-place Brown.
Dartmouth returns to the water next weekend, Oct. 19-20, competing in a pair of regattas, including the Captain Hurst Bowl.
