ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – After the first day of the ICSA Sperry Top-Sider Women’s National Semifinal on Monday, the Dartmouth sailing team is in second place with a two-division total of 83 points.

The two-day event is co-hosted by South Florida, St. Petersburg, Eckerd College and the St. Petersburg Yacht Club while boasting a field of 18 teams with the top nine teams advancing to the National Championship.

Through the first day of action, Cornell is in first place with 73 total points followed closely by the Big Green. Eckerd is 22 points back of Dartmouth in third with Brown and Georgetown rounding out the top five.

The race was broken up into two divisions. In the ‘A’ Division, Dartmouth registered a total score of 43 points, which was the fourth-best total in the heat. In the ‘B’ Division, the Big Green posted 40 points to jump into second place overall. The 40 point effort in the ‘B’ Division tied for the best in the fleet with the Tritons of Eckerd College.

The event continues tomorrow as the women’s team looks for a berth in the national championship.
