Sailing Notches Trio of Top Seven Finishes

HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth College sailing team completed its third weekend of spring races, April 6-7, competing in three regattas throughout the greater Boston area. Most notably, the Big Green reeled in a fifth place finish at the BU President’s Trophy, hosted by Boston University. Altogether, Dartmouth compiled three top-seven finishes.

At the President’s trophy, Dartmouth tallied a total of 173 points to finish eight points behind fourth place Brown and 14 points ahead of sixth place Harvard in the 17-team field. The A division produced a score of 83 and the B division notched 90 points.

The Big Green earned a sixth place finish in the 10-boat fleet at the Central Series 3 Race hosted by Harvard. Dartmouth totaled 105 points over the races in the two divisions to finish just four points behind Harvard and Brown, who tied for fourth. The A division produced 46 points, while the B division delivered 57.

At the Machiando / Friis Team Race hosted by MIT, Dartmouth came in seventh place out of 15 teams. In the head-to-head races against their opponents in the Gold round robin, the Big Green went 3-11. In the Friis at Tufts the squad finished with a record of 4-8.

Dartmouth returns to the water next weekend, April 13-14, competing in five regattas.
