I visited Dartmouth and fell in love with it. The campus was beautiful; the students were all extremely outgoing and friendly. You could tell that everyone was happy and in love with the school. Dartmouth also will provide me with great academics and the kind of sailing program I was looking for.
How long have you been sailing and what got you interested in sailing?
I have been sailing with my family since I was five and I participated in sailing camp starting at age eight. My dad sailed for most of his life so he passed down his love for the sport to me. I have always loved being out on the water and sailing just clicked for me.
What Sailing or Academic achievements are you particularly proud of?
I was an AP Scholar with Honor and a three time DECA state champion. One of my proudest sailing achievements would have to be my work with inner city Baltimore children. By teaching them how to sail, they were given a new and safe hobby and a passion for the sport.
Tell us something interesting about you that might come as a surprise to your teammates.
One time, I had to dress up as Lady Gaga, along with the egg that she entered the Grammys in this past year, for a fashion show.
What are your future sailing and career plans?
I look forward to sailing for the Big Green and then as much as possible later on in life. I haven't decided exactly what I would like to study, but I would like to continue onto grad school and a job that I love.
What sports or activities did you pursue in high school, and what do you hope to continue at Dartmouth?
I sailed for my high school's team all four years of high school. I was my grade's Recording Secretary for two years and was actively involved in Student Government. I was a member of National Honor Society, Key Club, Leadership Institute, French Honor Society, and was an officer on the Student Activities Network board. I competed for DECA which is a business and marketing competition. I was also a cochair on the Casey Cares project at my school. I look forward to continuing with community service at Dartmouth.
