HANOVER, N.H. – The Gail Koziara Boudreaux ’82 and Family Head Coach Belle Koclanes has announced the class of 2022 to who will be joining the Dartmouth women’s basketball team for the 2018-19 season. 

Jimena Abejon Fuertes, Katie Douglas, Asha Taylor, Veronica Kelly and Georgia Alexander all join the Big Green as incoming freshmen and bring experience from all over the globe.


Georgia Alexander
Hometown/High School: Victoria, British Columbia / Oak Bay High School
Position: Forward
Height: 6’2
Club Team: BC High Performance
Accolades: Four-time Provincial All-Star, two-time Island MVP, 2016-17 BC U17 Team, four-time City and Island Champion, 2017-18 Canada U19 Assessment Training Camp participant 

“Georgia (“G”) brings a hunger to learn and a willingness to be challenged,” Koclanes said. “She has the ability to stretch the floor at the post position with her face up scoring skill set. Defensively, she stays focused on communicating actions and making sure that she is in the proper position to help her team. G is a humble, curious and thoughtful young adult who will have a positive impact on our DWB family. We are truly looking forward to welcoming G to Hanover.”


Katie Douglas
Hometown/High School: Medham, N.J. / Blair Academy
Position: Guard
Height: 5’8
Club Team: United NJ Navy
Accolades: 2017-18 Brooks Basketball Prize Captain, four-time MAPL champion, three-time state champion 

“Katie (“Dougie”) is a fierce competitor, who brings grit, passion and incredible energy to the floor,” Koclanes said. “She is a perimeter scoring threat, especially beyond the arc, and loves to play up-tempo basketball. Defensively, Dougie focuses on pressure and positioning to disrupt her match-up. We are thrilled to welcome our second Blair Academy student-athlete to Hanover in recent years, as we know she is well prepared for the college level.”


Jimena Abejon Fuertes

Position: Point Guard
Height: 5’9
Club Team: BasketMar-Liga Femenina 2
Accolades: 2017-18 Asturias, Spain U18 Final4 Regional Champion, averaged 18.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game

“Jimena brings great size, speed and versatility to the point guard position and will complement our perimeter play,” Koclanes said. “She sees the floor extremely well and is a passionate student of the game, always longing to learn more about concepts and systems. Joining us from Gijon, Spain, Jimena has international playing experience and adds Spanish culture to our DWB family. We look forward to Jimena wearing the Green.”


Veronica Kelly
Hometown/High School: Chatham, N.J. / Chatham High School
Position: Forward
Height: 6’2
Club Team: NJ Panthers
Accolades: 2017-18 Morris County Champion, Morris County Tournament MVP, First Team All-Conference, First Team All-County, Chatham High School all-time leading rebounder and shot blocker, scored 1,164 high school career points 

“Veronica (“V”) adds a strong presence to our front court serving as an immediate rim protector with length and versatility,” Koclanes said. “Her court vision, off-ball movement and screening ability keep the offense flowing and difficult to defend. V is an excellent communicator and has the ability to score inside and out. Her selfless nature and pride in always being there for her teammates fits right into our team first culture. We are happy to add V and the state of New Jersey to our roster.”


Asha Taylor
Hometown/High School: Fort Lauderdale, Fla. / Miami Country Day
Position: Guard
Height: 5’11
Club Team: FGB South Elite
Accolades: Division 5A 2016-17 Dick’s National Champion and State Champion, 2017-18 Division 4A State Champion, Second Team 

“Asha is a gritty, hard-nosed guard who has competed at the highest level of high school basketball in the country at Miami Country Day,” Koclanes said. “Her passion for the game shows in her tireless work ethic and determination to improve every day. When she is not playing basketball, she is watching basketball and is a huge Miami Heat fan. Asha understands the commitment it takes to earn championships and we are excited for her to share her experiences with our DWB family.”
