NORFOLK, Va. – Wednesday evening concluded the races in the Gill Coed Western Semifinal, where the Dartmouth sailing team performed extremely well and finished in second place with a combined score of 86 points following the first day finish in first place. 

There are 18 teams advancing to the finals which begin tomorrow morning, nine from each division. The Big Green are in the top nine from the Western Division, behind Boston College and ahead of South Florida who came in third. In the Eastern Division, Yale took third place with 99 points, also advancing to the final round of races.

The semifinals began yesterday and included nine races in Division A and Division B for a total of 18. In Tuesday’s action, Dartmouth had strong scores across the board to secure the first-place hold. Wednesday’s sailing included a slight dip in two races for Division A where the Big Green scored 13 points both times. The Division B crew of Duncan Williford and Paige Clarke held on in the final three races, finishing second twice and then first in the last race of the day.

Christopher Williford, Rebecca McElvain, Jack McGraw and Alyssa Berger all competed for Dartmouth in the Division A for a final score of 45 points between the two days.
