HANOVER, N.H. – Daniel Perez, a rising sophomore on the Dartmouth lightweight rowing team, has been named to the United States rowing squad for this month's World Rowing U23 Championship in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.

The Fort Lauderdale, Florida, native will compete in the men's double sculls at the annual week-long regatta, which features the best young rowers in the world.

The event will take place at the Plovdiv Regatta Venue from July 19-23.

During the 2016-17 season, Perez was a regular in the first varsity, rowing in the 4- or 5-seat for most of the team's spring races. At the Eastern Sprints Regatta, he helped his crew finish in third place in the Petite Final (5:48.89). At the IRA Regatta, he switched it up a bit and was part of the coxed 4 that took third in the Grand Final (6:32.59).

At the Big Green's end-of-year banquet, he received the Timothy Ryerson Award, which is given in memory of an outstanding Dartmouth oarsman to the individual who has made the most significant contribution to freshman lightweight crew.
