BEVERLY, Mass. – The Dartmouth Equestrian team clinched the regional title this past Sunday at Endicott in an exciting finish to the 2017-18 regular season.

At the show, Dartmouth finished fourth out of 11 teams. Vermont finished first, while New Hampshire finished second.

Captain Claire Bick ’18 finished third in Open Flat, which qualified her to compete in the Regional Championship at Dartmouth on March 31. Claire had already qualified to compete in Novice Fences at Regionals alongside three other Dartmouth riders: Olivia Champ in Open Flat and Fences, Sue Mohieldin in Walk-Trot-Canter and Meghan Poth in Novice Flat.

Olivia Champ ’19 — another of the team’s captains — also secured her place at the top of the regional Cacchione rankings for the best open rider over fences and on the flat. Champ will compete against other regional point leaders at the New England Championships with the hope of returning to the National Championships for the second straight year.

The freshmen on the team also had a great final regular-season competition. Shira Hornstein ’21 had a beautiful ride and finished first in Novice Fences, and in her first collegiate competition, Liza Begunova ’21 finished first in Walk-Trot-Canter.

Dartmouth will host the Regional Championship at home at Morton Farm on at the end of the month before showing as a team at Mt. Holyoke for the New England Championships on April 7.
