HANOVER, N.H. – Head men’s lacrosse coach Brendan Callahan has announced captains for the upcoming 2018 season.

Senior Jack Korzelius will serve as captain, while classmate Richie Loftus will be assistant captain. 

Korzelius, a second team All-Ivy selection last season, played in all 13 of the team’s games as a junior. He finished third on the team in goals (17), assists (6) and points (23). The Purchase, New York, native had six multi-point games and grabbed 14 ground balls throughout the year. 

Loftus was one of two players to appear in and start all 13 games last season. The Academic All-Ivy selection was tied for first with 21 goals and was first in assists (14), points (35) and man-up goals (4), with all four of those categories being career highs. Hailing from Dallas, Texas, Loftus had at least one point in 11 games and had eight multi-point performances.

In addition to the two captains, the Big Green will have squad leaders, who are given extra tasks and duties to help lead the team. Serving as squad leaders in 2018 are seniors Evan Key and Willis Bocock, and sophomores Ben Martin and Jack Richardson.

They are responsible for day-to-day operations of team functions, organizing their group, communicating with the coaches and the team, and leading their squad of about 10 of their team members. 

After two home scrimmages, Dartmouth will officially open the season at home against Canisius on Saturday, Feb. 17.
