As the leaves fall from the trees and the weather turns colder, the Big Green moves indoors to the basketball court. Over the holiday break the men's and women's basketball teams took to the hardcourt for some early season action. Senior Kate Letkewicz and Miles Wright were instrumental in their team's success.
Their efforts are rewarded by being named the Hanover Brick and Brew Athletes of the Week.
Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Hanover Brick and Brew Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.
Senior Kate Letkewicz has been in the top three scorers for the first four games Dartmouth has played this season. Against Rhode Island, she posted a double-double with 17 points, including four three-pointers and11 rebounds. On Sunday she added 16 points in a, 81-50, win over NJIT. The Big Green jumped out to a 4-0 record for the first time since 2014.
Miles Wright, Sr., Boston, Mass., G, Men's Basketball
Senior guard Miles Wright displayed a deft shooting touch against Albany on Nov. 22, leading all players with 21 points while knocking down 9-of-17 field goals, including 3-of-7 from long range, to give him his sixth career 20-point game. The native of Boston, Massachusetts, filled up the rest of the stat sheet as well with four rebounds, three blocks (matching a personal best), an assist and two steals. Those two swipes boosted his career total to 100, becoming the 18th player in Big Green history to hit that milestone. For the season, the 6-5 Wright leads Dartmouth in both rebounding (5.7 rag) and steals (5), plus is tied for the team lead in scoring (14.3 ppg) and field goals made (17).
