BURLINGTON, Vt. – The Dartmouth field hockey team dropped a non-conference road game at Vermont Friday afternoon.

The Catamounts (3-3) bested the visiting Big Green, 5-2, snapping a four-game losing streak to Dartmouth (2-3) dating back to 2012 in the process.

Scoring goals for the visitors were junior Gemma Bautista and freshman Kira Koehler. With her marker, Bautista now leads the team with three this season, while Koehler is tied with three of her teammates for second with a pair of her own.

Senior Morgan Philie and junior Evie Bird each picked up an assist in the loss.

Vermont was sparked by the play of Landon Warren and her two goals. Lauren Tucker also chipped in a marker and a helper of her own for the ‘Cats.

Koehler’s goal came in the final minutes of the first half, sending the teams to intermission tied, 2-2. Three second-half goals from Vermont were the difference, though, as the Catamounts regained the lead early in the frame and never looked back.

In goal, Dartmouth’s Hailey Valerio made seven saves, while her counterpart in UVM’s Lena Benwood needed just four to earn the win.

The home squad out-attempted their regional rivals from Hanover, 20-8, while shots on goal were 13-8. Both teams had six penalty corners.

The Green and White are back in action Sunday at home against Maine. Game time from Chase AstroTurf Field is set for noon.
