HANOVER, N.H. - Sophomore Staci Mannella of the Dartmouth equestrian team is legally blind, born with the visual impairment achromatopsia.
Though visually impaired, Mannella has managed to tackle challenges head on, competing with the Big Green's equestrian team as well as a member of the US Paralympic Ski Team in Sochi back in 2014.
The New Jersey native might also be better known around campus as Smidge’s best friend. Smidge, Mannella’s guide dog, is a Dartmouth campus favorite and can be found everywhere from the dining halls to the quad to Morton Farm when her best friend is riding.
The following video put together by the College highlights the exceptional bond between these two members of the Dartmouth community.
