Fichtner is a 2014 graduate of Alabama and Houston, Texas, native who started her collegiate career at UT-San Antonio before transferring to Tuscaloosa for her final two seasons. At Alabama, Fichtner appeared in 102 games, starting 88. As a senior, she was named Second Team All-SEC after leading the Crimson Tide with a .391 average in conference play, knocking in 27 hits, seven doubles and 16 RBI. She threw out a conference-leading seven would-be base stealers and suffered just two errors in 125 chances with no passed balls behind the dish for a .984 fielding percentage in SEC play. As a senior, Fichtner and the Crimson reached the Women’s College World Series, but fell to the Florida Gators.
At UTSA, Fichtner was a two-time All-Southland Conference player, the 2011 Southland Freshman of the Year and the 2012 Southland’s Student-Athlete of the Year.
