|The Holekamp Family Director of Strength, Speed and Conditioning was endowed in 2007 with a generous gift of $1 million from Kerry and Bill Holekamp of St. Louis, Missouri. A member of the Class of 1970, Bill played soccer and rugby at Dartmouth. He earned his MBA at Wharton and served for many years as Executive Vice President of Enterprise Rent-A-Car, then as President of Holekamp Capital, a venture capital and investment consulting company based in St. Louis. Bill has also served on the Board of Overseers for Dartmouth's Thayer School of Engineering.|
After two seasons on the Dartmouth strength and conditioning staff, Spencer Brown was hired as the Holekamp Family Director of Strength, Speed, & Conditioning in the summer of 2016. Brown works directly with the Coaching Staff, Athletic Trainers, and Student-Athletes to develop individualized year-round strength and conditioning programs for each sport. In addition his duties include supervising two assistant coaches as well as strength and conditioning interns.
As the strength coach at Dartmouth, Brown works closely with Peak Performance to help give the athletes the tools they need to be successful on the field and in the classroom.
Brown came to the Big Green from Moravian College where he was Director of Strength and Conditioning and fitness for all varsity sports. He was also responsible for all administrative duties required to operate a fitness center, including managing a full staff and student-workers.
Brown previously worked as the Assistant Director of Sports Performance at Lafayette College. He oversaw the daily operation of a 4,000-square foot facility for 14 Leopards' sport teams.
Brown is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He is also certified as a Sport Performance Coach through USA Weightlifting.
Brown was a linebacker on the Lafayette football team from 2006 to 2009 and a four-year letterwinner. He earned a spot on the 2008 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Brown is a 2009 graduate of Lafayette with a bachelor of arts degree in anthropology and sociology.
The Florida native graduated from J.W. Mitchell High School in New Port Richey. He was a second-team all-state selection at the “athlete” position in football and two-time state qualifier in weightlifting. Brown was the St. Petersburg Times and Tampa Tribune Player of the Year.
He currently resides in Vermont with his wife Krystal and two children, Gavin and Faith.
