HANOVER, N.H. — It was a tough test for the No. 9 Dartmouth women’s squash team, but the team broke a 3-3 tie and came away with a 6-3 win over No. 12 Williams on Senior Night at the Berry Squash Courts on Wednesday evening.
Dartmouth (6-7, 1-6 Ivy) will compete this weekend at Harvard for the Kurtz Cup, the CSA’s National Team Championship (B-Division). Dartmouth is slated as the top-seed.
It was a much tighter match than results show and it was a true team effort,” head coach Hansi Wiens said. “We are looking forward to nationals this weekend".
The women had a tough fight with the match tied at 3-3. Senior Sarah Caughey, sophomore Jacqueline Barnes and freshman Rebecca Brownell were last up and in a position to decide the match. Caughey won her match in a very close four games while Barnes closed out her match in three straight games to secure the win for the Big Green. Brownell followed up with a straightforward three-game victory to secure the 6-3 win for the Big Green.
